Jackie Robison broke the Major League color barrier in 1947. Some people incorrectly say that he was the first black player in MLB history. While that is not technically correct that does not diminish the great achievement that he made to baseball and human rights. All Major League teams retired Jackie’s number 42 on the 50th anniversary of his accomplishment. Jackie was an All-Star at three different positions, 2B, 3B and OF. Before the bombing of Pear Harbor and his entrance into the U.S Army, Jackie played professional football in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jackie was not only a great athlete he was a great person.
