  • Quotes

    • James: (after his parents stopped paying his way after he dropped out of UCLA) I worked the drive-through at McDonald's and tried out different accents - Italian, Russian, Irish.

    • James: When I was a child, I wanted to be an actor, but I had really bad buckteeth. I didn't want to get braces, but my mom said I couldn't be an actor if I didn't get the braces. So, I got the braces.

    • James: I needed an outlet in high school and came across painting. I've actually been painting longer than I've been acting. A movie is a collaborative effort, and with painting you just have yourself.

    • James: (on his nickname of Ted) My name is James Edward Franco. Ted is a nickname for Edward. That's what my parents called me. I also got "Teddy Ruxpin" a lot. It just got to a point where I got sick of it, so when a teacher called out "James Franco" my junior year of high school, I didn't correct her.

    • James: Acting is an art form and you want to take roles that are challenged and it's more of a challenge I think to play dark characters. Not that I want to always play those, but it is a challenge and challenges are rewarding and fun.

    • James: (About what he looks for in a girl) Just someone I can relate to artistically and who can also be understanding and supportive of the demands of my lifestyle.

    • James: (About finding time to relax) Never. It's an impossibility. I don't even like to sleep. I feel as if there's too much to do.

  • I have only recently discovered the many talents of James Franco. I do know I enjoyed his performance in Freaks and Geeks.

I have written elsewhere of my enjoyment of Freaks and Geeks and general dismay that it was cancelled so soon. But it was one of the earlier programs to showcase the talent of Mr. Franco. He only began acting in the late 90's, but soon caught the eye of any number of casting agents. For his portrayal of James Dean in the TV movie of the same name he was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television film. In addition to acting, James Franco is a director, screenwriter, and author. He will soon be able to add Host to those skills; he has been tapped to co-host The Oscars, along with Anne Hathaway. Looking forward to that telecast.moreless
  • Incredible actor

James Franco is really an incredible actor. I watched him in the first two Spiderman movies, but it wasn't until the third one when I became a fangirl :) His acting was great! Plus, he's got an absolutely gorgeous smile. Being a fangirl, I went and dug up a ton of videos and articles on him and discovered that he is really dedicated to his work. He mentioned in one interview that for the movie City By the Sea, he actually went out and slept on the streets. It gave me newfound respect for him as an actor. I never knew he was in Pineapple Express until after seeing his filmography. I only watched about half an hour into it and stopped, but then I went back for James Franco and finished the whole movie. It was GREAT! He was really funny in it and played the drug dealer well.

Hollywood really needs more actors as passionate and humorous as James Franco.moreless
