  • Quotes

    • James Taylor: It is the most delightful thing that ever happens to me, when I hear something coming out of my guitar and out of my mouth that wasn't there before.

    • James Taylor: (on growing up in North Carolina) I tell my kids that we were pre-TV and there was a lot of empty time there, slow weekends when you just walked into the woods and found whatever you could to kill time. There was this long, uninterrupted time to let your imagination grow. I believe that was an important part of whatever creative life I've had.

    • James Taylor: (on his childhood summer vacations) My father was from North Carolina. My mother was from Newburyport, Massachusetts; her father was a fisherman. She missed the sea and she missed New England, so she'd load us all into the station wagon and we'd make a two-day trip of it every summer and go up to Martha's Vineyard.

    • James Taylor: (on his drug addiction) I'm lucky to be here. I'm lucky that I didn't die, or that I didn't hurt somebody else more than I did or do more damage than I did. I should have died about five times. Overdoses, mostly. Or traffic accidents, or being at risk because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • James Taylor: (on appearing at the 2008 National Democratic Convention) I have been at all the Democratic conventions since George McGovern. I remember Carole King, Barbra Streisand and I performed for McGovern in 1972. And I worked for Carter, Mondale, Clinton and I did a lot of work for Kerry.

    • James Taylor: (on his One Man Band tour) Of course, it's grand working with the big band--such great players... But performing these songs in their original, stripped-down form in small halls is like going to the well for water. It reconnects me to the music and puts me back in touch with the audience.

    • James Taylor: I wanted to perform, I wanted to write songs, and I wanted to get lots of chicks.

  • He has good music.

James Taylor is a great song writer and music artist. He has many hits and I think that he simply is a true music talent. I never used to like him or even know whom he was until I listened to one of his songs. After that, I realized that he actually is really good and is responsible for many of the hit songs that I like. I didn't know that he wrote some of those and that he also sang some of the songs. I have to say that James Taylor is a music great and he is also a talent. Thank you.moreless
