    • Jamie: (on if he were to play the first black James Bond) Of course I'd take the role. I'd put a little swing in it. A little hip-hop, you know. Maybe I wouldn't be drinking martinis, but drinking some Hennessey maybe. My Bond would drink dark liquor.
    • Jamie (on his new Satellite Radio channel, "The Foxxhole"): SIRIUS Satellite Radio gives me the opportunity to create urban entertainment and programming like you have never heard on the radio.
    • Jamie (revealing the most ridiculous thing he has ever bought was a $20,000 crocodile-skin jacket): I was in Las Vegas and some girls I was with were going on and on about this crocodile-skin jacket. In the end I just gave in and said, 'Alright, I'll take it!' It was crazy. Stupid. I've never worn it. It never matched anything and it didn't even fit properly. I don't even have the jacket now - I don't know where it is.
    • Jamie: (after Jake Gyllenhaal said Jamie was 'a ray of sunshine' on the "Jarhead" set) I think what he means by that is just having fun with such things going on in the world. I know it sounds a little clichéd right now, but it was just good to be able to have some fun with these guys, so I think that what it means. At the time the Oscar thing was happening, and they were all rooting, and we were all checking the scores to see what was going to happen, so we just had a ball.
    • Jamie Talking about Miami Vice: I love this film! And if it will be a blockbuster, I would really love to make a sequel.
    • Jamie Foxx: I've been on the road with undercover agents to prepare for Miami Vice, now thát are actors! They play a role and when they make a mistake, they get a worse ending than just a bad review.
    • Jamie: Can I just tell you that I am having the ride of my life right now? I wish I could take what I'm feeling right now and put it in the water system, and we would all love each other a whole lot more.
    • Jamie: You know what? I never really factor Hollywood into anything. I'm a black actor, so I can't really control what Hollywood thinks. I gotta go do my thing, and my jokes have got to be funny. Whatever I do has got to be great.
    • Jamie (On wearing the prosthetic eyelids which made him blind in "Ray"): After six hours of being blind, you lose the sense of how a person is physically. It was amazing to hear the little buzzing voices all around you.
    • Jamie (on winning the Oscar for his performance in "Ray"): It was unbelievable. Everyone was rooting for Ray Charles to win. It was really different. Man, I was sitting pretty – all these people were on my side and so supportive of me winning. Everyone came up to me – it was like a dream.
    • Jamie (on making out with Beyoncé in 'Dreamgirls'): I got to make out with Beyoncé. Damn, she's hot. I had to watch out for Jay-Z, though. I think he wanted to beat me up.
    • Jamie: Women make you spend money. Now that I have it, I have to be careful. It's like candy – especially when you're around women.
    • Jamie (the most extravagant thing he's bought): That's the thing, people start giving you stuff. I got a watch, a necklace that was at least $180,000 [$AU235,000]. They said "We just want you to walk with it." I said, "What do you want me to do with it after? Can I give it back to you? I don't want to lose it." They said, "It's yours." It will blow your mind. Literally, I got three Cadillac Escalades, two Range Rovers, a watch, some clothes. And you go, "Wow!"
    • Jamie: Money is a by-product. People think L.A. is shiny and fake but it's actually the other way around – not only are people good-looking here, they're very artistic and they've got great ideas. Money is a by-product of great ideas. You can't just do something for the money – it looks bad and everyone can tell.
    • Jamie (on being happy success came later in life for him): I wouldn't be able to handle it if I was 26 or 27. They used to say, "Here today, gone tomorrow." But now it's more like, "Here today, gone this afternoon." You'd better not be caught on someone's camera phone doing something goofy in a nightclub. I'm able to deal with fame and success in a grown man kind of way. But I have to tell you, you never really sleep all the way – there's one eye open.
    • Jamie (on working with Colin Farrell): We had great chemistry in the film, but we didn't have much time to kick it off-screen as much as I would have liked. We did have a couple of parties in Miami and to see the magnetism that this guy has, it's perfect for him. He really is the lady-killer.
    • Jamie (why he chose to star in Miami Vice): Because it's hot. The hotness of this idea was too much for me, so I had to climb on board. It's a great opportunity for me to be in a commercial hit, a franchise. A lot of people don't remember the TV show, so it's basically a new thing. It was the same for Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch – and they were huge. And when I watched Miami Vice the TV show it was a no-brainer. I mean, who wouldn't want to be Crockett and Tubbs?
    • Jamie Foxx: CCH Pounder taught me one thing. She said, 'Characters are like putting on a coat. You put the coat on while you work, you take the coat off after it's over.' You need that freshness. I know people who stay in character, and it's the worst thing in the world. You can't go out. They're still in their character and the character residue is too much. I like to go do it, flip it on like a light switch and then flip it off. Then, when we come back in the next morning I flip it back on. That's what keeps things fresh for me.
    • Jamie Foxx: I'd like to say I'm R&B's savior. Whether that's the truth or not, I'm definitely going out there with my mic and my shield to declare, 'I am here to save R&B.' I will have the people saying, 'Sir, there is a man at the musical gates saying he is here to save R&B.'
    • Jamie: For my 100th birthday I want 100 dancers. Five 20-year-old strippers - that equals 100. Sweet.
    • Jamie Foxx: I've been a sports fan all my life, and like most other actors, I'm convinced I could have been a pro athlete if Hollywood hadn't come calling.
    • Jamie Foxx: Give it up for Ray Charles and his beautiful legacy. And thank you, Ray Charles, for living.
    • Jamie Foxx: [On fellow Oscar winner Sidney Poitier:] I saw you once and I looked into your eyes and there was a connection.' He said, 'I give to you responsibility,' and I'm taking that responsibility tonight. Thanks, Sidney.
    • Jamie Foxx: In our music, in our everyday life, there are so many negative things. Why not have something positive and stamp it with blackness?
    • Jamie Foxx: [In tribute to his grandmother] She still talks to me now, only now she talks to me in my dreams. And I can't wait to go to sleep tonight because we have a lot to talk about. I love you.
    • Reporter: Jake [Gyllenhall] said that you were a 'ray of sunshine on set' [on Jarhead], whch is an interesting choice of words.
Jamie: I know it sounds a little clicjed right now, but it was just good to be able to have some fun with these guys, so I think that's what he means.
