Janet: I might be allergic to marriage ... I've done it twice before and I'm afraid I might be a jinx.

Janet: My friends still tell me that I'm very generous and I'm still loving, but I'm not quite as gentle or loving as I used to be after going through relationships and things like that. There's a little bit of a wall that I'm trying to work on, but yet I don't want it to all come down.

Janet: We're all judgmental and I try my hardest not to be and just try and keep a clean slate, but you just never know what's going on behind closed doors.

Janet: Before I started singing, my first passion was acting. I put the weight on for a film I was to do with Lee Daniels. They wanted to see me in a different light, as a heavier woman. They really wanted to make it a statement in the film. I was excited about it. We were supposed to shoot right after Jermaine's birthday party, but they had to push the film back. The timing didn't quite work with trying to finish my album, and unfortunately I wasn't able to do the film. So I found myself having to take this weight off a lot quicker than I had planned.

Janet: When I come home from a club, I have a huge bowl of Frosted Flakes. I only have it once in a blue moon - because I can't have just one bowl.

Janet: My first crush was Barry Manilow. He performed on TV and I taped it. When no one was around I'd kiss the screen.

Janet: A couple of years ago I recorded some tracks with Rich Harrison. But none of that music will appear on my new album. I have a tight rein on all of the music that has been recorded.

Janet: MTV regrets this [SuperBowl XXXVIII breast baring] incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

Janet: I'm just trying to get used to living on a fixed income. Now, it's going to get unfixed.

Janet: I do not have a child and all allegations saying so are false.

Janet: Touring is very grueling. It's very taxing on the body and living out of your suitcase, going from city to city, night after night. It's a tough job.

Janet: I used to hurt so badly that I'd ask God why, what have I done to deserve any of this? I feel now He was preparing me for this, for the future. That's the way I see it.

Janet: I kinda see everyone as competition. I'm a very competitive person. But I think that's good. Competition is great. And as long as it's friendly and not a malicious thing, then I think it's cool.

Janet: I'm convinced that we black women possess a special indestructible strength that allows us to not only get down, but the get up, to get through, and to get over.

Janet: I think it's great if a guy has a good sized package.

Janet: You have to be careful with the clitoris, because if the piercer doesn't know what he's doing, it can be numbed for good.

Janet: It is my belief that we all have the need to feel special. It is this need that can bring out the best in us, yet the worst in us.

Janet: I can't believe people got so upset at the sight of a single breast! America is so parochial, I may just have to move to Europe where people are more mature about things like that!

Janet: In complete darkness we are all the same, it is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us, don't let your eyes deceive you.

Janet: You don't have to hold on to the pain, to hold on to the memory.

Janet: Ever since I was little, I loved to eat. I started eating when I wasn't hungry. My weight has always been up and down.

Janet: My biggest guilty pleasure is strawberries and whipped cream. I also exercise like crazy for up to two hours a day, six days a week, playing basketball and tennis in between sets of lunges and squats.
