Jani Lane is an American musician who is best known for being the lead vocalist for his former band Warrant. Jani was born in Akron, Ohio as "John Kennedy Oswald"; however, his middle name was changed to Patrick by his parents as a result of the complaints they had received concerning the name. As a child, he grew up in the township of Brimfield, and attended Hoban and Field High Schools. He started his musical career early, playing the drums at the age of six and beginning the guitar at thirteen. Jani even played in clubs at the young age of eleven years. Eventually Jani moved to Los

More Angeles in 1985, three years after his high school graduation. There he joined a band called "Plane Jane", it was also here that he first spelled his nickname "Johnny" as "Jani" - and although it was still to be pronounced as the former, many persisted on the pronunciation of "Jay-nee"; hence the name he bears today.

Furthermore, as speedily as the band "Plane Jane" formed, it had just as hastily broken up. However, as a result of the disbandment, Jani was invited to a rehearsal for a band called "Warrant". The bass player, Jerry Dixon, persuasively recruited both Jani and his then-roommate Steven Sweet into the fold. With Jani as lead vocalist, the band released a total of six albums and sold well over ten million albums. Jani would officially part ways with Warrant in 2004, citing personal and business disagreements, and now currently focuses efforts on his solo career. So far he has released one solo album, "Back Down To One" in 2002.
