Janice Kawaye, born Hiromi Kawaye (of which she has also been credited) in 1970, is an Japanese-born American actress notable for providing the voices of "Jenny" XJ-9 Wakeman on My Life as a Teenage Robot, Ami on Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, as well as Gi on Captain Planet and the Planeteers. This fall, she will be one of the lead voices on the new Cartoon Network animated series Class of 3000, created by Andre Benjamin of the musical group OutKast.

She made her acting debut in the 1984 movie Night of the Comet, and speaks fluant Japanese as demonstrated in the MLAATR episode "Speak No

More Evil" and through the Puffy AmiYumi series, where she and fellow cast member Keone Young (who voices Kaz) taught Grey DeLisle (Yumi's voice) to speak Japanese. It was also in that series (during the show's second season) where she voiced a character that was personally based on her in the episode "Janice Jealous", but the show's producers (Renegade Animation) have stated that the real Kawaye is much nicer than the character she portrayed.
Janice Kawaye grew up to be an actress.

Janice Kawaye has got to be the greatest voice actress in history. Well, you may know her for voicing Gi in Captain Planet and Jenny in My Life as a Teenage Robot. But, I know her for providing the voice of Ami in Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. That voice she made for Ami is the cutest I've ever heard. I hope to here her in her Ami voice in the future.

she has a sweet voice hide show

well, she repeats her voice talent over and over and over. but at least its not as annoying as DeLisle's. i just love her laughter and i loved her so much in my life as a teenage robot.
she played parts in shows i dont really like for example: Class of 300, Hi hi puffy Ami Umi. i think she'd better change her voice before she does on to other major stuff like Tara Strong.
i just hope that she would still continue to keep this sweet voice of hers. im not even sure whether she can sing. but with this sweet voice i can keep my hopes high

My one of the favorite actresses! hide show

Janice Kawaye did a nice sweet voice acting on HHPAY! Nice Janice, I would love to meet her! I can nickname her Ami, that will be silly. Nice sweet voice Janice, I wonder how does she do that? She is Japanese-American born actress. Janice is and will always be my one of the favorite actresses in the world. She's good looking and sweet voice acting on the girls. Ami is my favorite girl she ever voiced. Janice please make Ami sound cuter than ever please janice? You rock and roll sweetly and so cutly janice. I love you forever Janice. Way to go.

HOLY CRAP; SHE'S SO CUTE! hide show

This is one of the most adorable I have EVER heard. And that's saying something, considering i've heard a lot of voices in my 13-and-a-half experience. When I first heard her as Jenny on "My Life As A Teenage Robot", I knew that the role was suited for her. But, what really makes her so adorable is her role as Ami Onaki from "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi"
;it was the sweetest voice i had ever heard. It was her greatest role and I hope it's not her last. I would really hate to see her shunned by the entertainment business. So, in her honor. I give her review a 9.2
