Birth Name

Jason Statham is a British actor who has done it all. From being a one-time Olympic diver to a fashion model and a black-market salesman, Statham has transformed himself into one of Hollywood's most bankable action movie celebrities. He is most known for his high-impact, high-adrenaline films such as Crank, The Transporter, and The Italian Job.

Jason was born on September 12, 1972 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire and later moved to London. His acting ability first came to fore in the form of commercials and street theater in London. Later on, a talent agent who specialized in athletes landed Statham a gig in an ad campaign for the European clothing retailer French Connection. The owner of the company was one of the biggest investors in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, the movie where Jason met friend and mentor Guy Ritchie.

After several movies in the UK, Statham made his way into Hollywood mainstream. He played a British drug dealer in his American film debut, Turn It Up. Since then he has made over 20 movies in the US and in the uK. In 2008, he starred in the bank heist drama Bank Job opposite Saffron Burrows.
