As a child, Jeffrey Dean Morgan always wanted to play professional basketball. This dream seemed closer than ever when he entered college and won a spot on the team. But when a knee injury left him permanently benched, Morgan set his sights on more creative endeavors: specifically the graphic arts. But fate intervened. A short trip to L.A. turned into a life long home, and Morgan found a passion for acting that he just couldn't ignore. "I fell in love with acting and got the bug, and that was how the love affair started," he has said.
The Seattle born actor has starred in several movies and television shows over the years, but only recently did he find the break that all actors dream of - not one great role, but two; playing heart patient Denny Duquette on the ABC smash hit Grey's Anatomy as well as demon hunter John Winchester on the CW's critically acclaimed cult hit, Supernatural. Even more incredibly, the two roles occured simultaneously. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Morgan dived into the two parts, giving each one 100% of himself - and it shows. Despite the overwhelming differences between the two characters, Morgan managed to deliver an awe-inspiring performance on both.
Thanks to overwhelming fan response and Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes' own self-professed affection for Morgan, the hunky, blue-eyed thespian will star in her new untitled ABC project - a pilot about a group of female journalists. In the meantime, Morgan continues to be in demand in Hollywood, and is enjoying his current success.
Currently, Morgan lives in L.A. with his nine year old dog, Bisou. And fortunately for his female admirers, he is as of yet, unmarried.
