Jensen was born in Alabama but was raised in Wisconsin. She attended Boston University on a scholarship and obtained a degree in music theory.
Jensen's first soap opera role was as Sarah Gordon on One Life to Live. In 1991 she joined the cast of Another World, playing the dual roles of Victoria and Marley. Jensen was nominated for two Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996 and 1997.
By 1998 Jensen was playing just the role of Victoria on the show. After Another World's cancellation in 1999 she transfered the role of Victoria to the show As The World
… More Turns.
In 2001 Jensen started playing the role of Melissa Bedford on General Hospital. She left the part in 2002.
