Jerry Douglas is a class act. He played the role of John Abbott for 20+ years and loyal Y&R fans grew to love him. His departure from the show was both a shock and a great loss to Y&R. We will all miss Jerry.
What can I say about Jerry Douglas? He will always be "John Abbott" to me. I feel like I've grown up with the Abbott children, and with John Abbott as a true father figure. He was a man of great integrity, sound morals, and deeply attached to his children. He raised three children when his wife walked out on them. He remarried a few times, unsucessfully, but never wavered his attention away from his children, who remained the most important people in his life. What a great Dad he was, and a wonderful role model to those Abbott kids, and to the many young teenagers and young adults who grew to love watching his role as "John Abbott" on Y&R. His departure from Y&R was very sad and he will be greatly missed.
