I first heard Jerry Jewell on Fruits Basket as Kyo. I instantly fell in love with Kyo. The voice was exactlly what I imagined when I was reading the manga. I already loved Kyo from the manga, Jewell just added more to the character. My brother then got me into FMA and he played Barry the Chopper- a psycotic killer. The role was small but pulled off beautifully. I then started looking for Jewell in the credits since I loved his work so much. That is how I found Kodocha- a nutty slap stick comedy/drama and the angsty Akito. Again Jewell delivered. I was 3 for 3 with Jewell and started Case Closed. I realized I loved listening to him. He was so believable, not to metion talented. I can't wait to hear him in future shows! He has talent and promise!
Out of all the animes I've watched in my time, I must say it's a shame to see such a good voice actor in fewer animes. To the best of my knowledge, he's done the voices for two of my all time favorite anime characters. Those said characters are Barry the homocidal mainac from Full Metal Alchemist and the stuffed rabbit who wishes for death, the Happiness Bunny from Shin-Chan. Both animes air on Adult Swim so, not many people have heard his voice acting. But still, try to watch his work. You won't be disappointed, I can promise you that you won't find a better voice actor for the insane characters.
The first time I heard him was as Kyo Sohma in Fruits Basket (My friend and I make a constant joke of how when Kyo first shows up, the first thing he does is yell "Yo! Time to pay the piper RAT BOY!" at Yuki ^_^), I thought he was very good ^_^. The next time I heard him was as Barry the Chopper in Fullmetal Alchemist (he was weirdly convincing as a scary psychopathic maniac without taking it too much over the top). I think Jerry Jewell is a very talented voice actor, I hope I hear more of his work, and soon!
Jerry Jewell has been used in several anime voice overs. The first things I ever heard him in was Fruits Basket, then I saw Blue Gender, then I had the pleasure of finding Case Closed or Detective Conan on the Cartoon Network. And his portfolio continues
When I first heard his voice in Fruits Basket I completely fell in love with it. He played the character of Kyo Souma so well and he was by far my favorite in the show. Everything he said seemed genuine to his character and his voice was just plain perfect for the part. Now Blue Gender wasn't my favorite so I don't have much to say about it. I have only seen a few episodes, but Case Closed I've seen many times. I watch all of the reruns over again when they come on. That's how much I love him in his character of Jimmy (or Shinichi). He plays every part he takes on wonderfully! And I can't wait for anything else he decides to be a part of! ^.^
