Jessica Lange

In 1995, Jessica was nominated for a SAG Award for "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role". The movie she was nominated for was Blue Sky.

Jessica is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, and is a vocal critic of George W. Bush.

Jessica and Sophia Loren have joined forces to raise awareness for HIV positive children in Russia, she also is a big supporter of rights for the Monks of Nepal.

Jessica's interpretation of the pushed-to-the-limit Cora in the remake of The Postman Always Rings Twice in 1981 was partially inspired by the downbeat life of B-movie actress Barbara Payton. In a Rolling Stone interview, Lange mentioned how she thought her character might have first drifted to Hollywood as an aspiring starlet, and costar Jack Nicholson gave her Payton's lurid, tell-all autobiography "I Am Not Ashamed" to look over on the set. Coincidentally, Lange and Payton were both born in Cloquet, Minnesota.

Jessica is one of the elite ten thespians to have been nominated for both a Supporting and Lead Acting Academy Award in the same year for their achievements in two different movies. She did it for Tootsie and Frances respectively, in 1983.

Jessica supplied all of the vocals for the songs from the film Sweet Dreams in 1985 where she portrayed Patsy Cline.
