Jessica Walter: You know, one thing I've learned, after all these years: You never know what's around the corner. And that is one of the exciting things. Did I think I was going to be in L.A. for two and a half years? Never, at this point in my life. You never know. I would love to do something that doesn't take me away from New York.

Jessica Walter (on Arrested Development): You know, I'll tell ya, whatever happens with this show -- and I'm still in denial -- the bar has been set very high. It's going to be real hard to find something else like this. This has been like from god; this is a truly talented group of people in all areas -- the directors, the camera guys.

Jessica Walter (on Arrested Development): Real comedy is based on desperation, and I look at Lucille, and I look at all these people on our show, as desperate. She's desperate to maintain her lifestyle.

Jessica Walter (on Arrested Development): The interesting thing, though, is, because we're digital, there's no film to waste, so they do about 20,000 takes. So that's the rehearsing. We discover things through all the takes.

Jessica Walter: As far as I'm concerned, we can never push things enough. We try to do it all with class and elegance.

Jessica Walter (on her Arrested Development character, Lucille Bluth): Of course, it's been 32 years since she's had Buster, but that's how long she's been depressed about him. All kinds of horrible things ensue. I do, at one point, let my car roll into the lake with Buster in it, like Susan Smith did with her children.

Jessica Walter (on her Arrested Development character, Lucille Bluth): I think that she's a great dame. I'm crazy for Lucille. I don't think she's a bad person. Her priorities may be a little screwed up, but she does love her children in her own way.
