  • Quotes

    • Jewel Staite: (On what kind of student she was in school) Depends on what teacher you ask. My English, art, and social studies teachers would tell you I was responsible, diligent, smart, and quiet. My math teacher would tell you I was dim and glassy-eyed. And my Phys-Ed teacher would have never heard of me.

    • Jewel Staite: The best piece of advice I've ever been given: live well to live long. Which I've interpreted as: indulge, make yourself happy, treat yourself at the spa, buy that jacket even if it's not on sale and spend lots of time on Maui!

    • Jewel Staite: (On malls during the holiday season) Why do they blast the heat in there when they know we're wearing winter jackets? No one likes to sweat while rummaging through piles of sweaters to find a medium while balancing an Orange Julius and text-messaging your Christmas list to those that love you all at the same time!

    • Jewel Staite: (On learning to Salsa dance) I would love to learn, though. There is nothing sexier than a guy who can dance, even if he shows up at a concert wearing his weird dancing flats and taking it all seriously. It's the commitment that's sexy. Also the button down shirts. Hell, even salsa on a chip is sexy.

    • Jewel Staite: (On being a role model) As long as they don't mirror things like my mysterious need to own six new bathing suits in the middle of February, or the fact that I never vacuum under my couch, or how I eat way too much fried food and drink wine like it's the middle ages. Seriously, there must be someone a little less human to emulate.

    • Jewel Staite: (commenting about her 1995 appearance on The X-Files episode "Oubliette") It was a tough job getting mouth to mouth from David Duchovny but somebody had to do it.

    • Jewel Staite: (discussing her acting career) I love acting because it allows me to be as many different people as my imagination can conceptualize, and I can spill my guts, bare my soul, and be a bitch without actually offending anyone in the real world.

  • So awesome!!

Jewel Staite is an amazing actress and also a great person. I have never met her myself, but I've seen probably every interview with her posted online and read her blog. She's hilarious, by the way. This is irrelevant, but she actually reminds me a lot of my best friend. Anyway, I love her character of Jennifer Keller (especially her pairing with Rodney McKay!). She's so beautiful and so talented. Definitely one of my all-time favorites!! Besides, I love all sarcastic people, and she definitely fits into that category. :-) Love love love. Hope to see her in a bunch more stuff!!!moreless
  • Jewel Staite - The Firefly Mechanic Kaylee

I think that Jewel Staite is a very great actress. She plays Kaylee in the seris 'Firefly' and the film 'Serenity' she plays a mechanic that is in love with Simon the ships doctor who is trying to protect his sister from the Alliance (A goverment organisation that perfomed medical tests on her). In the film, in the scene in which they all think they are going to die, Simon tells Kaylee that he wanted to be with her and she goes from 'I'm gonna die' to 'I'm gonna live' in about 10 seconds. That takes true skill. I hope that I see her in another successful seris as it would be harsh if she ended up in Sci-Fi obscurity.moreless
