Jim: (On how much he improvises for his role of Dean Pelton in the TV series "Community") I think there's definitely some freedom, but there's honestly not that much improv. Credit to the writers and Dan-it's there. Certainly lines here and there. Donald [Glover] is always good for mixing it up. Ken [Jeong] loves to improvise a little bit. But for the most part, it's there. I certainly have turned it on now and then, and hope that they don't hate it. [laughs] Whether it makes it, I don't know. But it's always fun, take after take, to do a little something.
Jim: (On his character Dean Pelton's attraction to Jeff Winger on the TV series "Community") Well, I think there's a combination. We can't deny the fact that he's talked about a threeway with Jeff before, so it's definitely sexual. But I think another part of him is that he does want to be him. I think he idolizes the idea of Jeff's college experience.
Jim: (On what his character Dean Pelton sees in Jeff Winger on the TV series "Community") What he sees in him? What he wishes he was. I think that's how the Dean feels on the inside. [Jeff] is this Adonis.
Jim: (on the cast of "Community") It's a really close group. I think that they've all bonded and are very welcoming to myself and even any other guest stars and new people along the way. And, it's fun to watch Joel[McHale], who is very quick witted and loves to tease people, and it's fun to watch him play around with Ken Jeong and then Donald Glover obviously is another one that enjoys that as well.
Jim: (on using his improv background on Community) I certainly have turned it on now and then, and hope that [the writers] don't hate it. Whether it makes it, I don't know. But it's always fun, take after take, to do a little something.
Jim: (on his relationship with Joel McHale's character) I would love to see a Dean-Jeff adventure, a weekend romp if you will. Why not?
Jim: (on Community's theme episodes) Someone might have said this, but I just want to see a bad-ass Matrix thing. That could be good. I don't know if it's too Glee, but it would be fun to do a musical-type thing.
Jim: (On his favorite filming moments so far on "Community") I think I'm partial to shooting the Apollo 13 space episode personally, but I will say that one of my favorite times was only the second episode I was in. It was the football one, where I got to come in and ask Troy if he wanted to play football. That was the first time back for me, and it was fun to start fleshing out who that guy was.
