Jimmie Johnson was an offroad racer growing up in California. Jimmie had a few wins in the Busch series, until moving up to NEXTEL Cup. Since his rookie year in 2002, he has finished second twice in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series points, and is currently in the chase for the cup. He is married right now. In 2004, Jimmie won four out of the last five races in the chase and came up 8 points short of winning the Championship for the first time.
This feat, though, didn't come without heartbreak. Rick Hendrick (Jimmie's unofficial car owner) lost 10 family members in a plane crash following his win at Martinsville. The next race, under true emotion and guts, Jimmie won the race for Hendrick. Jimmie's actual owner is Jeff Gordon, because there is only two cars allowed per team, and Jeff is owned by Hendrick.
