Jimmy Shergill, also referred to as Jasjit Shergill, is a popular Bollywood movie actor. He was born on December 3, 1970 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, but soon moved to his family's homeland of Punjab, India. He attended high school at Yadavindra Public School in Patiala and upon graduation he went to Brikham College, Patiala. He studied acting from Sri Harpaul Singh and afterwards moved to Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Jimmy's acting debut was in the 1996 film, "Maachis," which was directed by Gulzar. He has since played in over 30 Hindi films including "My Name is Khan," "Mohabbatien," "A Wednesday," "Munnabhai," "M.B.B.S.," "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" and "Dil Hai Tumhaara." He was also in seven Punjabi films, such as "Yaara Naal Baharan," "Mannat," "Dharti." His two most popular films, "Yahaan" and "Haasil," brought him critical acclaim and are often considered his best work. Jimmy is married to Delhi native, Priyanka Puri and they have a son named Veer Shergill.
