Born in Brampton, Ontario, Joanne spent her formative years in Toronto, acting in film, television and commercials. Boland's numerous television credits include guest starring roles on the popular Global TV murder mystery series, Blue Murder; Discovery Channel's investigative series, Exhibit A; and, Showtime's Leap Years and Odyssey V. Her made-for-TV credits include Hunger Point, where Joanne plays anorexic patient Cynthia; Conviction, with Dana Delany; and, Sister Mary Explains It All, starring Diane Keaton and directed by Marshall Brickman. Other television credits include the Sci-Fi Channel's movie of the week, Threshold; Disney shows In a Heartbeat, Phantom of the Megaplex, Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire, and, The Famous Jett Jackson. Boland's other acting credits include these shows and movies: Khaled (Canadian Film Centre), Sex, Lies & Obsession, Charms For the Easy Life, UBU The Barbarian (Arts & Minds), Angels In The Infield (Disney), Two of Us (Viacom), Year of the Phoenix (Paramount), and Showtime's Harlan County, Thin Blue Line, and, Rated X.
Boland has several theatre credits to her name, including Blue Water Playhouse's Perfect Pie, Montreal Youth Theatre's The Monkeys Are Back, Benedetta Carlini, presented at Nightwood Theatre, and, UBU the Barbarian, presented at The Music Gallery.
Boland is also a singer/songwriter since the age of 14. She can be seen playing gigs on stages around Toronto such as "C'est What?", "Freetimes Café", "The Gladstone Art Bar" and "Oasis."
