Joanne Kelly

Joanne: For me, a well-written character is a well-written character. It doesn't matter what genre it's in.

Joanne: I'm Canadian so I don't think our government is hiding much. I don't think we have much to hide. I've always been suspicious of the government. I mean, there's conspiracy theories floating around especially after 9/11 and all that kind of stuff. I think it's fascinating that there could be certain people in power that are hiding things from the masses.

Joanne: (on doing "Warehouse 13") I'm exhausted and my legs are bruised but the show allows me to be a kid again. And I love conspiracy theories, so it's easy for me to dig in.

Joanne: When you're not from the city you have a direct relationship with the environment. My dad hunts. I've eaten moose and caribou for most of my life. My mom has a garden. We compost. That's the way I was raised. That's the way I grew up. So to come to a city where you're so removed from everything, you try to do everything that you can. You recycle, you buy local and organic. You do everything that you can to support a local ecosystem.

Joanne: (about working with Saul Rubinek on "Warehouse 13") He's kind of like our dad. He takes care of us. he's lovely and he has so much passion and experience and still loves what he does and cares a lot. Which is great for younger actors like us, to have that on set.

Joanne: (about working with Eddie McClintock on "Warehouse 13") Eddie makes me laugh every day and I always have a great time on set because he's there and it's just been a pleasure to work with him. I'm really thankful to be part of this.

Joanne: I like the idea of stretching the imagination and stretching the boundaries of what you can do on film. And sci-fi kind of allows you to do that.

Joanne: I was more into books growing up, not so much TV. We didn't have TV where I grew up so I was a Tolkien fanatic and I love a lot of sci-fi genre books and stuff like that.

Joanne: (on working as an actual Secret Service agent) Being a Secret Service agent would be cool, man. You could wear those headsets and run around with guns all the time. I mean, what’s not fun about that, right? Diving in front of the bullets maybe not so much.

Joanne: (on working with the sci-fi genre) It's fun to pretend and to make believe. That's what we do as kids and we lose that as we grow older. It's so great that I don't get to lose that.

Joanne: (about doing her own stunts on "Warehouse 13") I was an athlete when I grew up, and I really enjoy the physicality of this role. It's really challenging and really fun.

Joanne: (on what drew her to the role of Myka on "Warehouse 13") It's a very dynamically written part for a woman. There's a little bit of everything. She's so tough on the outside and what's interesting about her, as the series progresses, and even in the pilot, you can see the cracks. The cracks of vulnerability, which I think is kind of cool. And she kicks ass, which is kind of nice. I like that. I like powerful women.
