Trivia and Quotes

  • Trivia

    • At one point during the second season of Blossom, Joey came out for his introductory bow, and someone from the audience threw a pair of panties at his feet. When Joey asked what it was, his TV dad Ted Wass explained how it was a sign that the show was going to run for a long time, due largely to the fact that viewers loved Joey's character so much.

    • Joey almost didn't get his role as handsome teenager Joey Russo on the 1990's television series Blossom. The producers originally thought that because he had already gained fame as a child star on Gimme a Break, he was essentially a "has-been" as an actor, so the audience wouldn't like him in the role. Fortunately, series creator Don Reo felt that this was a silly notion, and Joey was cast anyway. Blossom expanded Joey's career even further and established him as a teen heartthrob.

    • Blossom was originally scripted to be titled Joey, and it was supposed to center around Joey Lawrence's character, like a sitcom version of Catcher in the Rye. The network liked the idea, but they ultimately decided that it was better to place the daughter in the primary role, and Joey became a supporting character.

    • He went by Joey throughout his childhood and teen career, but as an adult, he prefers to be called Joseph.

    • Although "Whoa!" became Joey's trademark line on Blossom, the whole concept almost flopped. Series creator Don Reo initially kept trying to tell Joey exactly how to say the word and how to make appropriate gestures, but the audience wasn't getting it, and nobody thought it was funny. Reo finally told Joey to just forget about it, so then Joey went out there and did it without any pressure. All of a sudden, the second he said "Whoa!" the audience laughed for 20 seconds, to the point where Joey couldn't even say the rest of his line. It was a hit from then on.

I have always liked watching the shows that he has been in. I really liked Brotherly Love. Usually when I really like a show, it doesn't 'last' very long. I would like to know if BL is running on any of the cable networks. I miss it. I don't recall seeing him on Blossom, even though I watched that show, too.

He's very easy on the eyes, no doubt about it! His brother's are cuties, too! :)moreless
