Urb was born in Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia, and moved to Finland when he was 10 years old. Raised in a family of talented artists, Urb grew up surrounded by the arts. His father, Tarmo Urb, is a very popular musician who has performed with his brother Thomas Urb in the band "The Urb Brothers" for over 20 years. They are the Estonian equivalent of "Simon and Garfunkel" and are still the most popular and famous band in Estonia. Johann Urb's great-aunt was a very well-known opera singer and actress, and his uncle was also a famous theater actor.
