John C. Zak

John C. Zak is an American television producer, director, and film maker. A graduate of UCLA's Film and Television Department, Zak began his career in network television on the ABC series GENERAL HOSPITAL as a lighting director. During his tenure at ABC he received an Emmy Award and six Emmy nominations. He also received an Emmy nomination for BENSON. Zak moved into directing on SANTA BARBARA, CAPITOL, THE DOCTORS and other daytime dramas. He directed and produced THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, moving up to the position of Supervising Producer. He received a Director's Guild of America nomination and an Environmental Media Award for work on that series. Upon receiving a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, Zak began living part time in Hawaii. He made several award winning documentary films on Hawaiian culture, including HAWAIIAN HEALING, HAWAIIAN MEDITATIONS, and PULE WAILELE (HAWAIIAN WATERFALL PRAYER). These films have screened internationally at many festivals and conferences. Zak was a contract director on ABC TV's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. He also is a published photographer having co-created the award winning book, HAWAIIAN MASSAGE LOMILOMI, SACRED TOUCH OF ALOHA. At present, Zak is continuing to make documentary films as well as consulting for international production companies such as Endemol and Franz Marx Films.
