John Candy was an incredibly funny man. A very smart guy who took his humor above the obvious "fat guy" jokes.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles might be his best and most complex comedy. Very funny yet touching.

On the other end of the scale is Spaceballs. Hilarious in that stupid, spoof way. But great for what it was.

Too bad he wasn't around long. That, sadly, is often the reality for fat comics.
  • If I say the name John Candy. First thing that comes to my mind. He is more then just a comedian. He could do so many things with so many characters. He has a certain way about bringing a character to life. Through laughter or just being human after all.

John Candy is someone who was gone long before his time. Hes done alot of really great movies. I would recommend them all. Speaking from my own personal life. I wished growing up I would of had the chance to meet him. He seems like he was a decent and upstanding guy who could make something simple so funny. By a gesture, smile,or a really great laugh. From what ive gathered hes always had trouble with his weight. Before his death he was trying to live healthier and he was doing so. Life is kinda crazy when you reverse course on something then it grabs you at the end. I think I can sum it all up and say. There will never be another John Candy. Or Camp Candy. Or someone we call Uncle Buck. Or Neal Page. All these characters showed something important that was actually a real person with feelings and real emotions. John Candy you will always be missed. And you will always be a trendsetter for others to follow.

John Candy started his career on SCTV, a Canadien version of SNL, but about ten times funnier. SCTV also featured such great actors as Eugene Levy, Martin Short, and Rick Moranis. John Candy then moved on to movies and became the funniest man of all-time. He was in two of my favorite movies ever, Spaceballs and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. He also played the police-officer in the less famous Nothing but Trouble. If he were still alive he could continue to make great movies, but unfortunately he died from a heart attack in Mexico. If you have never heard of John Candy I suggest you startwith a movie like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles or Spaceballs.
