John Vlaskas Close - always called Johnny. Born in Los Angeles, attended Hollywood High School. Before he turned to acting, Johnny served in World War II in the South Pacific, in the Navy. He was one of the first trained in underwater demolition and worked with the famed underwater explorer, Jacques Cousteau. When he came home, he tried his luck at acting. His step-father, Gustav von Seifertitz, was very influential in this direction, and Johnny soon began earning a very good living at his chosen craft.
He was married twice and fathered three (3) children, Patrick, Megan, and Kelly. Johnny was living with me (his wife) and his two little girls in Palm Springs at the time of his death.
Everyone liked him... a really great guy and talented actor!
