In a radio broadcast on April 12, 1945, John Daly was the first to alert the public of the death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States.
John Daly attended the Tilton School in New Hampshire. In the late 1950s, he became the Chairman of the Board for the school. There was also an alumni award established in his name following his death.
