John Savage

John was listed as one of the twelve "Promising New Actors of 1979" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 31.

Although he did not pursue a career in singing/songwriting, he does still sing.

In 1982 John was nominated for Best Actor-Foreign for his work in Amateur (1981).

In 1977 John appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's American Buffalo.

John won a Western Heritage Award (Bronze Wrangler) for his work in The Virginian (2001).

John attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

When John was young, he organized the Manhattan's Children's Theatre Group that performed in public housing areas.

John won the Drama Circle Award for his (stage) portrayal of Billy Bibbitt in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in the early 1970s.

John was an assistant production manager for certain sequences of Spike Lee's film Malcolm X (1992).

John spent six years in South Africa working for the anti-Apartheid movement. He worked with Nelson Mandela.

John and his first wife, Susan Youngs (from 1967 to 1969), had two children. John is currently married to Sandi Schultz (1993-present). She is from Namibia.

John is 5'9.5" tall.

Born on exactly the same day as rock impresario Gene Simmons, of KISS fame. Moreover, both were born just six days before actor Richard Gere...and five days after writer/producer/director/actor Patrick Kilpatrick - all within the same month of the same year.

He is the elder brother of actors Jim and Gail Youngs. His parents are Floyd and Muriel Youngs. He also has two sisters, Gail and Robin Youngs.

He is the father of actress Jennifer Savage. He also has a son, Lachlan.
