    Personally, I find it hard to choose. He is so good in all of his movies.
    I think his best ones were when he plays Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean,
    and when he plays the second Earl of Rochester in The Libertine.

    He did so well in the libertine that i completely forgot i was watching Johnny. His monologues were so effective.

    Sweeney! He was so heartbroken yet vengeful at the same time. And he relished in the blood. It was so effective.

    Sweeney, he always commits to every part he plays but with Sweeney is was so much more then that. The part was built for that kind of detailed, emotional, subtle acting that relies not just on the lines but on the small details that Johnny is so perfect at. The role was built for him.

    i went back and watched that movie to see what you meant, and i agree.
    He has perfected every glance and gesture as well as line and song.
    It is truely amazing
