Jon Polito was born on December 29, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is of Italian descent. On a drama scholarship he went to Villanova University. He is a veteran actor and voice over artist. Polito is most known for his work with The Coen Brothers and his most notable role was as that of an Italian gangster in Miller's Crossing. He also appeared in the first two seasons of Homicide: Life on the Streets and was also in Crime Story during its first season. Polito made many television appearances as s guest star and as a series regular. Besides Crime Story and Homicide, he was in Ohara, Hearts are Wild and The Chronical. Guest star roles include Seinfeld, Broadway and Off Broadway. He starred in The Death of a Salesman on Broadway and filmed it for television. At the Cinquest Film Festival in 2005, he won the Maverick Spirit Event Award. Some other awards he has won include the OBIE for his Off Broadway work, the TELLY for his animation voice over work, and The New York Independent Festival Award. His raspy voice is his trademark.
