Joyce Van Patten was born March 9, 1934, in New York City, New York. Van Patten's mother aggressively pursued a show business career for Joyce and her brother Dick. When Van Patten was five months old, she landed her first job as a baby modeling a baby blanket for the department store Sears. In 1941, Van Patten appeared with her brother, Dick Van Patten, in the film Reg'lar Fellers. Her debut film was the 1951 film Fourteen Hours. Other movies that Van Patten has appeared in include The Goddess, Grown Ups and Bad News Bears. Van Patten has spent most of her career on Broadway and appearing in TV series. Popular Broadway productions she has appeared in include Rumors, Jake's Women and I Oughta Be in Pictures. Van Patten was also an original cast member of the soap opera As the World Turns.
