Judith Eva Barsi was the daughter of Jozsef Barsi and Maria Benko. Both of her parents were Hungarian immigrants. In 1983, when Judith was 5 years old, she was discovered at a skating rink in San Fernando Valley. Judith is best known for doing the voice of Ducky, in the children's movie, The Land Before Time. Her family was briefly put on welfare until her career started taking off. In 1985, Judith was making an estimated $100,000 a year. The income bought her family a four-bedroom house on a quiet street in West Hill. On July 25, 1988, in her home in Canoga Park, California, herMore mother and Judith were shot to death by Judith's father. He later shot himself to death. Jozsef was very abusive to Judith's mother, Maria and to Judith. He would usually come home drunk and threaten to kill them both.

Judith and her mother were laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery on August 9, 1988 in Hollywood Hills. They were marked in unmarked graves. But, in June of 2004, a fund was set up to get them both headstones for their graves. On August 23, 2004, Judith's grave headstone was marked. Her plot is marked, "In memory of the lovely Judith Eva Barsi 1978-1988 'Our Concrete Angel' Yep! Yep! Yep!" Maria's was marked on January 28, 2005. Her marking is, "The wind beneath JEB's wings - Yep Yep Yep". JEB stands for Judith's initials.

A child actresses she is mainly known for the voice of Anna Marie from "All dogs go to heaven" and Ducky from "The land before time". She was murdered by her father who also killed her mother and later himself. hide show

Her voice was so pure and full of childhood innocence. She wa truly on th fast track to becoming a bing child actress like Mara Wilson, Drew Barrymore and Dakota Fanning. We were all blessed with her endearing performances that while few were no less memorable and captured a love and joy that life seem to deny her. I will always cherish the loving sound of her laugh. We were all denied a major talent due to her father's selfish and cruel act. Judith Barsi had much to give us and I'm sure that given time she would have been given roles that went to other child stars of today.

Judith Eva Barsi was a very talented young actress during the 80's. Unfortunately her life didn't last long and wasn't as beautiful as it should have been for such a wonderful and talented little girl. She has appeared in numerous commercials and movies. hide show

Judith Eva Barsi (June 6, 1978 – July 25, 1988) was an American child actress and a victim of a murder-suicide.

Judith was the daughter of Hungarian immigrants Jozsef Barsi and Maria Benko, who had both fled the 1956 Soviet occupation of Hungary and then emigrated to Los Angeles, California shortly before Judith was born. Her mother dreamt of her becoming an actress, as she once made an effort to do so for herself. When Judith was five years old, she was "discovered" at a skating rink. Looking younger than she was, she was mistaken for a three-year-old. She went on to appear in over 70 commercials and soon appeared in films.

As Judith became more famous, her father Jozsef, an alcoholic and unemployed plumber, became increasingly abusive and paranoid. He would mentally abuse Judith and once held a knife to her throat while threatening to kill her, for he was convinced that his wife and daughter would leave for a photo shoot or movie shoot and never come back. Jozsef would often stay home drunk and refused to let Maria work. The family was on welfare for a brief period until Judith's career started taking off in around 1986. By the time she entered fourth grade, she was earning an estimated $100,000 a year which helped her buy the family a four-bedroom house in West Hills, California.

Jozsef continued to remain a recluse and threatened to kill his wife and daughter hundreds of times. Child Protective Services was called numerous times, but as Maria was reluctant to press any charges, the case was never followed up. Maria rented an apartment for her and Judith as a daytime safe haven away from her father. However, on July 25, 1988, Jozsef entered Judith's bedroom and shot her in the head before shooting his wife. He then drenched the bodies in gasoline and set the house on fire before finally shooting himself in the garage.

Judith and her mother were buried in an unmarked grave at the Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles. On June 2004, a fund was set up to get them headstones for their graves. Judith's marker was placed on August 23, 2004 while one for her mother was placed on January 28, 2005. Future donations will go toward donating Beanie Babies to hospitalized children.
