Juliette Lewis

Juliette's first major role was as Nick Nolte's daughter and Robert DeNiro's obsession in Cape Fear. She was nominated for her first Academy Award for 'Best Supporting Actress' at age 18 for that role.

Juliette went through a musical evolution, starting out with her love of jazz as a child, her favorites being Chet Baker and Miles Davis. She moved on to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix in her teen years, right into Creedence Clearwater Revival, and then stopped at classic rock.

Juliette credits close family friend Karen Black with inspiring her creativity. She would spend time at her house as a young child, and was given full reign over the closet to play 'dress-up'. She would load up on the feathers and wigs, heels and hats, and they would spend hours playing 'charades'. It was Karen that first made her feel that she was incredible and inspired her to be free-spirited. Juliette lived with her after being emancipated.

Juliette enjoyed watching musicals as a child, in particular Fame, Grease, and The Sound Of Music.

Juliette commissioned ex 4 Non Blondes front-woman, Linda Perry to assist her in finding her 'rock 'n' roll voice'. Linda has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Pink and Lisa Marie Presley.

Juliette and Jennifer Lopez prepared for their roles as waitresses in Enough by working at Edie's Diner together in Marina Del Ray, California.

Juliette started acting in television commercials at age 12, moving on to guest appearances on 1980's sitcoms The Facts of Life and The Wonder Years. She appeared in TV commercials for Guess? jeans and the Honda Integra in 1996.

Juliette made her London stage debut as the heroine in Sam Shepard's classic play Fool For Love, in 2006.

In the past, Juliette has dated Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler, and UFC Pride fighter Chuck Liddell, among others.

Juliette is a member of the Church of Scientology. She took an 18 month hiatus to get off of drugs in 1996-97, with the help of the Scientology Narconon program.

Juliette performed all her own vocals for Strange Days.

During filming of Natural Born Killers (1994), Juliette actually broke Tom Sizemore's nose when she slammed Scagnetti's face into the wall.

Juliette posed for a "portrait" in US magazine, by Peggy Sirota, which featured nothing but an extreme close-up of the soles of her bare feet.

Juliette is the lead singer of the hard rock band Juliette and The Licks who went on The Vans Warped Tour in 2004.

Juliette auditioned for the lead role in Beetlejuice, but the role went to Winona Ryder (1988).

Juliette played a suicidal mental patient in the music video for the Melissa Ethridge song Come to my Window. Her erratic behavior frightened the director to the point where he yelled "Cut!" several unnecessary times for fear that Juliette had truly suffered a mental/emotional breakdown.

In 1995, Juliette was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the '100 Sexiest Stars' in film history (#75).

Juliette drove without a driver's license until she was 21. She owned a car bought under a friend's name and had been driving illegally since age 15. Eventually, Juliette got a license after she got caught not stopping at a stop sign.

Juliette was arrested for being underage in an underground dance club at the age of 16. The arresting officer, who recognized her dad when he picked her up at the station, gave Juliette her mug shot (the charges were dropped), which now hangs, poster-size, in her home.

Juliette dropped out of high school after attending for three weeks, and became legally emancipated at age 14, to work adult hours on set.

Juliette is the daughter of Geoffrey Lewis, who almost named her 'Snow Lake'. She is the sister of actors, Lightfield Lewis and Brandy Lewis, and the half sister of Dierdre Lewis and Matthew Lewis.

Juliette was introduced to her ex-husband Stephen Berra by her younger sister Brandy. They married on 9 September 1999, and although they have now divorced, they remain good friends.
