He won the Independent Spirit Award for his debut performance in the 1995 controversial low-budget film "Kids."
He had an extensive criminal record. After his parents divorced, he would shoplift heavily as well as play hooky. He eventually dropped out of high school and left his family home to live in a condemned building with his fellow skateboarders. Authorities soon found them living there and he was arrested for possession of numerous drugs. At age 19, he finally moved back home.
Born in London to an English mother and American father, his family moved to the Bronx by the time he was 3.
The 25-year-old had hung himself and was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday July 14, 2000. Two suicide notes were found at the scene.
