Katherine Dee Strickland is the youngest child of Susan Strickland and Dee Strickland. She was born in Blackshear, Georgia and raised in Patterson, Georgia. After watching Annie Hall she knew she wanted to be in it.

Strickland attended the University of the Arts in Philidelphia. While enrolled she interned at a casting agency. After graduating with a Fine Arts degree, she studied in NYC under Maggie Flanagan.

Her career began with a brief two-line part in The Sixth Sense. Since then she has had roles in Girl, Interrupted, Law & Order:



… More Criminal Intent, The Stepford Wives, Anaconda: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, The Grudge and Fever Pitch.

While working on The Grudge she met Jason Behr. They started dating around that time and got married on November 10, 2006 on Ojai, California.

Her latest role is as one of the stars of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice. She stars as the highly accomplished Dr. Charlotte King, chief of staff of St. Ambrose Hosiptal in Santa Monica.
