Kamar was born in Puerto Rico but came to the United States with his family as a child. At age four, he played trumpet alongside legendary greats Dizzy Gillespie, Doc Severinson and Harry James, and later played percussion on his older brother's album.

Kamar has a son, Caylan, born in 1997, and is the youngest of five children (including older brothers Walfredo Jr. and Daniel). His father, Walfredo Sr., is a musician as well: a drummer and percussionist.

In 2006, Kamar became engaged to former One Life to Live co-star Sherri Saum.

Injured

Saw that the president of his fan club, Jeania (MySpace)blogged that he has received an injury (torn rotator cuff while performing a stunt) which requires surgery. In reading his credits, I find that he has been in the "business" for quite a while. One of his early appearances where I first saw him was as a paramedic on "ER". I have watched him on OLTL off and on the past few years. hide show

Unfortunately, I have seen little to NO respect given to his vast body of work, especially for his current role on "One Life to Live"...and personally, I think that's pretty horrible. I have seen nothing but criticism of his portrayal, and it is constant, relentless and unwavering. And no matter WHAT anyone says "in his defense", it's pretty much ignored. If it's "just a show", there's no need for such vehemence, some of which I have also seen directed at the actor himself.
