Kate is a regular on the Best Dressed lists, however, she ranked #7 on Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dress List for the first time, in 2001.
Kate is five feet and six inches tall. She is left-handed, has green eyes, and brown hair. She is part Sicilian (on her dad's side).
Kate buys her clothes from vintage clothing shops and makes her own jewellery.
Kate is able to speak French. It was something she learned during the filming of Le Divorce (2003).
Kate has 3 dogs: Clara (a Pomeranian), Doctor (an English bulldog), and Bella (a Neapolitan mastiff).
Kate enjoys playing guitar, writing music, and doing arts and crafts. She practices yoga.
Kate was ranked #99 in Premiere's 2003 annual "Power 100" List. It is her first appearance on the list and she was the youngest person on it that year at the age of 24.
Kate has always known that she wanted to act, but at one point developed an interest in playing soccer and got very good at it, making it onto her high school team. Growing up with brothers, she always had someone to compete against in practices, and Kurt both coached her & cheered her on. She quit playing however, when she saw that her legs were getting 'quite large'.
Kate graduated from Crossroads, a Santa Monica performing arts school, in 1997. She was accepted to NYU's Tisch School of Drama.
Kate: I'm feeling really well and very happy with all that's going on in my life. I'll obviously be spending a lot more time in London but I'm not sure about moving – not yet! We'll probably split it 50/50 – I do love it here and surprisingly I do love the weather. It's so nice to have seasons.
Kate: I am very happy with the way my career has gone. I couldn't be more pleased. I just feel so lucky to have done the things that I've done, worked with the people I've worked with - it's really a blast and [there's] way more to come, you know. And in terms of my career, I can't wait to get into my 30s.
Kate: (On Nine) Well I had a really great perspective because I was up top (of the stage) shooting it and I got to look down and get an objective point of view of what was happening. It was so cool. It was like an Australian goddess coming out over here and then you have the French angel sort of walking down the stairs and then you had Penelope who's (got) the Spanish cute, quirky, feisty thing and then Dame Judi Dench and the iconic Sophia Loren and then it was me and I'm like, "Uh, I'm in this movie?"
Kate: (stating that a healthy sex life is the key to making a successful relationship) People think you can put your sexual life on hold, but you have to find time for it. Without that relationship, our family is broken. My mum really implanted that in me when I was pregnant.
Kate: (on her type of man) I'm kind of a little bit all over the place with my type - I do like complicated.
Kate: (on her relationship status in December 2008) I'm actually enjoying being single right now because I really never have been. I feel good in relationships, I enjoy them. I feel my best when I'm in something solid. But it's also the first time I've ever taken a step back and gotten a new perspective. So, I've made a conscious decision to try to stay single as long as possible.
Kate: (revealing she is ready to appear naked in a film) It depends on the movie and depends on the circumstance (but) I am pretty comfortable with that – as long as it works for the movie. If I wanted a part I would pretty much do anything I needed to in order to get that role.
Kate: (on playing a sexually aggressive character in My Best Friend's Girl) I got to say and do certain things that most people say to each other in normal, everyday life. I got a little taste of what those Sex and the City girls were up to for so long, which was fun.
Kate: I swear a lot in My Best Friend's Girl. But I actually talk like that. It was fun to swear in a movie. In real life, I can't hold a conversation without swearing.
Kate: The one thing that is very different about being a single mom is dating. But I would rather be home with my son, cooking dinner, than going out with a guy.
Kate: I've never been a big make-up person. I'd go to high school with my zit medicine on! That's how much I didn't care. I think it's why all the popular girls had a problem with me.
Kate: I was a tomboy. I had three brothers. I was the girl with the dress on who always came back in the house filthy, with scrapes and bruises. But I was always very girly, too. I had to be able to twirl so that my underwear showed.
Kate: I can take all the criticism in the world, and it really won't affect me. I'm just having a great time being alive. How lucky are we just to be here and healthy? What a fun thing.
Kate: If I could have one gift, it would be to help everybody see all the beautiful things in life and be happy. And if that happened, there would be more...bubbles! ... And I have no idea what that means!
Kate: I love writing music. I play the guitar but I think of it more as a hobby. When and if I do decide to do something with music, i would have to be very committed to it. I have a little different take on music than most people do. If I'm gonna do it, I'd go on the road. I can't even see myself doing that at all right now.
Kate: I am such a sucker for reality television. It's almost like it's so absurd that you can't stop watching it. I just think it's a phase and people will get over it.
Kate: I had everything after the baby - booty, three chins, the whole kit and caboodle. I really enjoyed being pregnant and I really enjoyed getting big and I actually enjoyed, after the baby, being big. The best part about it was I can relate to how difficult it is to lose weight now. I really worked hard at it. I worked out two-three hours a day every day.
Kate: I don't consider myself better than any other girl walking down the street. But a lot of people in the industry aren't that way.
Kate: I'm not interested in being fearful. I'm not a good flyer, but that doesn't stop me. As far as politically, and SARS, if you're gonna go, you're gonna go. I'd like to be able to experience things. That's the best thing for my work - to be somebody who does get to travel and observe people. It would be a shame if things that made me afraid stopped me from doing those things.
Kate: Whenever I feel stressed out or like I'm going crazy, I stop myself and say how lucky I am to be able to do what I do. I'm so lucky to be able to have my baby with me everywhere I go.
Kate: I remember running around in Ibiza as a little girl, not being fazed by all these naked people, or people smoking and drinking. Nobody stopped to think there was a child in the room. It was just the way it was.
Kate: I know there are ups and downs. You're up one minute and then you can't get arrested. That's happened to both my parents. I'm aware of that. But our family doesn't really discuss acting. We don't sit around the kitchen table and read the trades. We're just a close family.
Kate: To bear children is the ultimate in femininity; it's beautiful. And if having kids is going to affect my career, then fine, let it. I don't really care. Because if that's what being a star is all about, I don't want it.
Kate: I have an amazing job, but you need more than fame to be happy. If anybody is in this business to get famous, they ought to get out, because everybody falls off the shortlist eventually.
