As per site guidelines of having just 10 quotes per editorless person guide and my personal preference of having at most 15 quotes for all person guides I edit, I am transferring some of the interesting quotes previously found in the Quotes section of the guide. If you wish to submit a new quote, either do it on this thread or kindly PM me before replacing any of the existing quotes on the Quotes section. Thanks!

Kate: (on being an actor) People don't always want to believe that. They want to believe I do it because I felt I had to, or to be like mum, or to compete with my mum. Or any other of a number of things that have nothing to do with who I am. I am so much less complicated than that. I like acting.

Kate: When I'm working, I give myself one day a week to splurge, usually Friday night. Otherwise I just try to stay away from wheat, dairy, and white flour. I love food so much. The "desert island" food for me would be pizza. I always have a Tombstone in the fridge.

Kate: I was in this furniture store once with [my son] Ryder, and this woman said, "I know who you are--Gwyneth Paltrow!" I was like, "Yeah......." Gwynie and I look nothing alike. When I was younger, I had a lot of people saying I looked like Drew Barrymore. And, of course, my mom [actress Goldie Hawn]. That goes without saying.

Kate: I like single life. I mean, my single life is me, Ryder and Chris [Robinson]! It doesn't change. Chris and I were in Aspen over Christmas. We were like, 'Should we go to a bar?' My main focus is Ryder and staying close to close to Chris. It's kind of a really nice place to be in. I'm not really interested in a relationship right now. I'm interested in my son.

Kate: (about her 3-year-old son's notoriously long hair) He won't let me cut it. And then finally, I said, "We're going to have to cut your hair." And he goes, "Yeah, I want a Mohawk." And I was like, "Okay, maybe we'll cut it another time."

Kate: I'm not worried about my weight. If the audience is worried about my weight, I'm not doing my job as an actor.

Kate: (asked about being the only female featured in "You, Me, and Dupree") I'm so flattered. First of all, it was a boys' club movie. It was one of those things where I was the girl, the little sister. It was like, 'Hey, what are you guys doing? You going out? Can I come?' But I'm pretty comfortable with boys. You know, I have all brothers. There's four boys and then me and my mom, so I've been surrounded by boys my whole life.

Kate: (on having Liv Tyler as a best friend) Liv is actually the only real actress friend I have. I was 15 when I first met her. She was just 17, which seems like worlds apart when you are that age. I was like "Oh my God, look at Liv Tyler. She is so beautiful!" We've always had a really wonderful relationship and it has never dissipated.

Kate: (on filming "The Skeleton Key") I think the stunt coordinator was surprised to find out that my coordination was pretty good. I got to break windows, climb up a two-story trellis and crawl through mud in the pouring rain. One day, I looked down at my knees and they were black and blue, just like when I was a kid and played soccer. At one point, I was actually soaking wet for 15 hours. I loved it.

Kate: (Dupree is a character in her movie "You, Me, and Dupree") I've got some female Duprees...I've got like two. One of them just sort of squatted in my house for over a year. And I liked it because I could go into the guest room and [gossip with her]. Chris was the one who was like, "When is she getting out of our house?" And then I have another one who's probably the Dupree who would light the house on fire with a stick of butter. [laughs] And if you're out there, baby, you know who you are!

Kate: When I was little, I had such a crush on Kiefer Sutherland. I had a Lost Boys poster on my wall. I met him once when I was at a hamburger joint with my dad. I don't know if Kiefer remembers. I should never be talking about this.

Kate: I knew a little bit about voodoo, mostly love-spell books I got from my girlfriends. I believe our minds are powerful enough to manifest whatever we'd like.

    Kate:
Every girl wants a fairy-tale ending. And I believe it's possible. Absolutely.

Kate: (on her relationship with ex-husband Chris Robinson ) Look — we're still basically living together. We've figured it out. I mean, obviously, nothing's perfect, but I could never look at (our divorce) as a mistake. If anything, it's the best thing that ever happened to us.

Kate: (on her character in "Almost Famous") Penny Lane is a real person, but she's a composite of characters, different women he's met along his way. I did a lot of research too. We took all of that and combined it into one. One big thing was that in most all of these women there's a such a sadness to them. It's in their eyes, something that is very lost, and they hide it very well. If you're researching them, you pick up on it. If you're watching for something like that, you pick up on it. If you're just talking to them, they seem like the most fun people in the world.

Kate: If you think it's strange for you people, think how freaky it is for us! The second time I saw [Almost Famous], a woman behind me kept saying, 'Omigod! She's just [like] her mother.' I wanted to say, 'Hey...shush!' But what can you do? There's no question I came from that womb.

Kate: (the Moral of the Story for "You, me, and Dupree") I actually felt like it hit on a couple of things. I love that Dupree is sort of this free spirit and sort of has this idea of 'I am who I am and I'm proud to be who I am. And eventually it will work out for you.' I don't know if I agree with it, but I do like the concept of people being okay with being who it is they are. I do love the idea that in marriage that no matter what, through everything, even when it feels so bad and so wrong, that you do work at it.

Kate: (on her character Penny Lane in "Almost Famous") There is an innocence to Penny even though she's seen and done a lot. But she does have a sense that she's got something special, that she can make it a party just by walking into a room.

Kate: (on creating a sisterly bond with "Le Divorce" co-star Naomi Watts) It was very easy. We were two girls who really liked each other. I started working three weeks before Naomi came. When she showed up, I was really excited to have a girl with me. Usually I work with guys! Naomi is a very hard worker, and very interested in the character. I am too.

Kate: I call Mom by her nickname, "Go Go." Kurt's nickname is "Go Gi."

Kate: I would love to work with my Pa. I think he's such a wonderful actor, and obviously working with my mom would be great. They're both so talented. But it's not something we're actively looking for.

Kate: I did grow up with Kurt Russell as a Dad, who was a professional baseball player, with all boys. All I wanted to do was be the best athlete. I was the kind of person that in high school, if I didn't beat the record, I was very disappointed in myself. I finally got to do that in my work.

Kate: (on Ryder's long hair) Yes, he loves his long hair because it's like Daddy's. When I've tried to cut it he gets very vocal and says, "No, I like it mommy!" So, okay, he can keep his long hair. I'm a big believer in whatever your kid wants to look like. I let him pick out what he wants to wear, like my mom did with me. Although now when I look at my childhood photos, I can't believe my mom let me go out the door wearing some of those outfits [laughs.]

Kate: I have zero problems when people say, 'God, you look like your mother.' I go, 'Well, great! Thanks!'

Kate: (on making many fashion disasters) Not for me. No. For other people I'm sure. I'm sure these been times when people have gone - oh my god, look at her hair. I don't think anyone walks out of the house and goes, oh my god, what am I thinking; I look horrible (laughs) so no. I mean, I've always been very comfortable. I remember the Oscars when I was nominated I got pretty bashed for that dress and then of course two years later beaded caplets were in.

Kate: (on separating herself from her famous mother) You can feel it when you walk into an audition. Maybe I was right for a part and maybe I wasn't. I would always do the best I could, but I knew that if I was having an off day there would have been people sitting there whispering 'Goldie Hawn's daughter is horrible. She should really choose another career'.

Kate: (after Hurricane Katrina) I felt so connected to New Orleans. I had so many friends down there, but all the people who made New Orleans special to me are gone. All the people who you'd say hi to in the stores are all gone. Going back will just be really weird. I still would like to have a place down there, even if it's a place I end up rebuilding and trying to preserve.

Kate: My mother is such an amazing mother, and a talented actress. She is so incredible at whatever she does, and I admire her so much.

Kate: Because you're not perfectly skinny you're not thought to be as appealing which I think is false. Besides, who wants to be perfect? It's so ugly.

Kate: I've seen ghosts and experienced mystical things. I've seen many ghosts. My mom is super into that stuff, we swap stories of our experiences all the time. I think I got my psychic abilities from her.

Kate: I don't remember my first time in Paris. My mother was Quite a single Mom, and everywhere she went, she just packed up her two kids and took us wherever she was going. So I was travelling with her all the time. I do remember being a little girl, and my only memory of being that age - I must have been 5 years old - was looking at all these clothes and fabrics. She bought this big blue dress. I just remembered that!

Kate: I would never let my mom do my hair, she would always make my ponytail bumpy.

Kate: A lot of European people, and Latin and African people who come to America in search of the American Dream. The American Dream is a romantic notion, but it's not as pretty.

Kate: (on being superstitious) Not really. In day to day life I have crystals and stuff. But when I'm working I'm not too bothered. Although I don't walk under any ladders on set.

Kate: I grew up in a house where I got spanked every once in a while. I was disciplined. At the same time, I was completely free to be my own person.

Kate: I don't know if people really want to know how I feel about drugs. I'm not such a stickler. I believe you can choose to live your life any way you want.

Kate: My parents told me 'if you ever believe anything anybody ever tells you about who you are, what you are, your image or if they hate you or love you, you're going to be miserable. You do your job no matter what you do, you do it the best you can and you go home and really concern yourself with your homelife because that's where people blossom as people. Not when you're being berated or elated'.

Kate: I take my work seriously and myself not seriously.

Kate: I mean, it's funny, because there was one time when I was 11 and I approached my mother and said, "I want to act." And she went, "Whoa, horsie--slow down."

Kate: (asked if she reads anything about herself) Sometimes. If it's put in front of my face. You know - it doesn't lift me up and it doesn't lift me down. Its always nice when people have things to say because it makes you feel good.

    Kate:
One date, I just left before we even ordered food because the guy was just so deeply boring that it was like, 'I'm just going to save us from all of this and just leave.' I like to be surprised [with] something fun or something different, like racing cars…or miniature golf or something.

Kate: (about her nicknames) My brother Oliver used to call me Hammerhead, because my eyes were on the side of my head. They've kind of grown in to where they're supposed to be now. Oh yeah, and Dumbo! I've always had ears that stick out.

Kate: (on ex-husband Chris Robinson) For both Chris and me, our main focus is, and was, Ryder. And happy parents, happy baby. Therefore, I love Chris to pieces.

Kate: I'm a hippie at heart. I wear the clothes, and they're the best. And the music is incredible, too.

Kate: We would go on vacation to Hawaii and my mum would lose sight of me. Then she would see this four year old chatting to the bartender, ordering a Virgin Piņa Colada. She says I was a piece of work.

Kate: The thing about Bill, my other dad, is that he wasn't really in our lives very much. I didn't know him really well. I didn't understand it. My brother didn't understand it. He was sort of in and out of our lives.

Kate: I'm superstitious... but not like wear the same underwear for two weeks superstitious.

Kate: (on having Ryder at an early age) I can also see myself having kids in my 40s, like my mom did with Wyatt, who she had at 41. I do think it's funny that when I am 42 I'll be able to go to a bar with my son. I'm looking forward to that.

Kate: (on what son Ryder has inherited from dad, Chris) Oh my God! He walks exactly like his dad. [Laughs] I love it - he struts!

Kate: I've always been athletic - whether it's swimming or running, but I have recently taken up pole dancing. No, it's not what you think! It's a really vigorous work-out, believe it or not. I'm not doing it wearing lingerie in my bedroom for Chris. It's for exercise. A bunch of girlfriends get together and we do it. It's absolutely hysterical and so much fun. Seriously, I think every woman should do it.

Kate: I saw a picture of myself from when I was pregnant and started to laugh so hard. Man, was I big! I see those pictures and I'm just like, 'Wow.'

Kate: (about monogamy) I'm not gonna put any pressures on my husband to be the perfect husband. If that's something he had to do and that's the kind of man he was, which he's not, I just wouldn't want to know.

Kate: (on playing a sexually aggressive character in My Best Friend's Girl) I got to say and do certain things that most people say to each other in normal, everyday life. I got a little taste of what those Sex and the City girls were up to for so long, which was fun.
