The scene was improvised by Kate, when the director told her to just 'let loose' and feel the party, she ended up flashing the camera. The director gave her a week to think about whether she wanted to keep the scene in the movie, and she decided that she did.

Kate has always known that she wanted to act, but at one point developed an interest in playing soccer and got very good at it, making it onto her high school team. Growing up with brothers, she always had someone to compete against in practices, and Kurt both coached her & cheered her on. She quit playing however, when she saw that her legs were getting 'quite large'.
