In December of 2004, Keith's boat, the 100ft Sirene, was the first boat to be hired to clean up the 350,000 gallons of heavy Bunker C oil that was spilled by the soybean freighter the Selandany Ayu.
On Keith's first day of crabbing in the Norton Sound red crab fishery, he was almost pulled over the side because he stepped in the bight. This resulted in a ripped up ankle.
