A native of State College, Pennsylvania, Perine has been in and around theater since birth. His father, a staple in their local community theaters, reared his son on stage productions and had him performing by the age of five. Perine's love of acting kept him active throughout his childhood, performing in numerous community theater productions around Pennsylvania. His high school days were spent at Lake Forest Academy on the north shore of Chicago, where he was active in school productions while also working as an extra for numerous productions shooting in the city.
After graduating from Pomona College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in film studies, Perine went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from the University of California, Irvine. Since graduating, Perine has remained active in film and television.
His television credits include guest starring roles on "Bernie Mac," "E.R.," "Seinfeld," "The Practice," "Living Single" and "Mad About You." He was also a series regular on "Between Brothers" and "The Parent 'Hood," and had recurring roles on "The Drew Carey Show," "For Your Love" and "Providence."
When not acting, Perine serves as lead vocalist and lyricist for his funk rock band, Birthday Suit. He also enjoys golfing, collecting Zippo lighters and spending time with the "dynamic duo," his dogs Casper and Rio, whom he rescued from a shelter.
