Kim Cattrall

I first saw Kim in the 1980s as a kid of that era. When she was in the Police Academy movies and she is a funny actress. Also she is a screne stealer as evident in Sex and the City. That proved to be her biggest breakthrough and made her a star. And that despite playing second fiddle to star, Sarah Jessica Parker. It is Kim that steals the lines and she is indeed one of a kind. If it weren't for her scene stealing roles, then we wouldn't have found Sex & the City the show that it was without Kim.

Kim is the reason to adore Sex And The City Show. She's the first female character to speak so openly about sex and all related topics. Poeple hate her or they love her, simpley as that. Not to be judging her acting skills, but they come in second with the imposing character like Samantha. Kim kind of became Samantha in our eyes and I think that she's never gonna get out of that shoes. But there's nothing bad about that fact, because she should hold on to the integrity of Samanthas principles, and be that independent, overweening and standalone woman, the one many are trying to be or judge strongly. Her lines somethimes sound slike they're coming from the man figure ..

Samantha: "This is ... Uh .."

The Guy: "Alan."

Samantha: "Yeeees. Alan. ... We .... Uh .."

The Guy: "Fuc***"

Samantha: "Yeees."

Samantha (just moving lips): "Don't know."

Being more reserved myself, having a character like Samantha that mouths off about being a trisexual cause she'll try anything once is fantastic. She looks into a world more brisque and unlimiting as opposed to the other women. She's fresh, blunt, indulging and in later seasons, we see that even someone as hardcore as Samantha is human too.



Cattrail's previous roles disappear when she's plays Samantha leaving nothing but a trace of a great actress playing an outstanding role.

Kim Victoria Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in England. Kim began her career at the age of 16 when moved to New York City alone. There she attended school for acting and began landing roles in films about eight years later. One of Kim's best known movie roles was Porky's which was filmed in 1982. In 1997, Kim was asked to be in HBO's new series Sex and the City. Creators of the show knew Kim was perfect for the role of Samantha Jones, the sexual provocateur. Kim took on Samantha's character brilliantly. Sex and the City would not have been the success it was without Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.

There are several reasons why I really admire Kim Cattrall. First of all, she is Canadian, and so am I. Although I am an Asian Canadian, I take pride in what successful Canadian women do in the world. She is definitely one of the finest examples of what Canadian women are able to accomplish! Second of all, her role as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City is mind blowing. She is actually my favourite character in the show despite my personal similarties with Carrie Bradshaw. I really look up to Samantha in Sex and the City. I remember this one time at a restaurant Carrie bumps into Big and his date, Big and Samantha have an argument. Big wants to stay in Carrie's life but just to be friends, and Samantha knows that Carrie still has feelings for him and does not want Big to break her heart. She says her friend is very fragile and wants him to back off. Man, she is amazing in that moment! I have always wished I had a friend like that. Last but not least, she is a talented actress! Her performances always rock. Canadian women rule!
