In 1994, Kurt was one of 14 Guiding Light stars to appear on a special set of phone cards called "The Soap Connection Collection." The cards allowed fans of the show to hear interviews and behind the scenes info provided by the character who appeared on the card.
Kurt is represented professionally by The Michael Bruno Group out of Los Angeles, California.
During the "training sequence" of No Retreat, No Surrender, Kurt's character "Jason" does a two-fingered push up, something Kurt was not able to do on his own. In order to achieve the "stunt," director Yuen Kuai had wires attached to Kurt's back with a harness and three men on the other end pulling on the wires to make it look as if he is doing the push up himself.
Kurt frequently attends the Guiding Light Fan Club Luncheon's, where he gets the chance to interact with his viewing public. In 2007, he also appeared at the "Daytime Stars and Strikes" bowling event, which raised $11,830.00 for The American Cancer Society.
Kurt says that his favorite holiday is Christmas but he loves the summer more than any other season of the year.
Kurt says that he tries to live in the moment and not to worry.
Before becoming an actor Kurt worked as a used car salesman and a lifeguard.
In 2000 Kurt was in talks to play "Jake Martin" on All My Children but was forced to give up the role because he was not yet released from his contract with Guiding Light. In the end, he also lost his role on GL when his character, "Matt Reardon", was written off the show.
In 2005, Kurt and several other Guiding Light stars were let go due to budget cuts. A short time later they were brought back, but this time, on recurring status.
Kurt's favorite comedian is Chris Rock.
In January 2007, Kurt, and the cast of Guiding Light, traveled to Biloxi, MS to help rebuild homes of Hurricane Katrina victims.
In the 80s, Kurt auditioned for the role of "Justin Kiriakis" on Days of Our Lives but lost the part to actor Wally Kurth. Ironically, when Kurt left the role of "Ned Ashton" on General Hospital in 1991, it was Wally Kurth who replaced him.
Kurt holds a black belt in karate.
Kurt's hobbies include tennis, horseback riding, swimming, and water skiing. He also enjoys collecting knives.
Kurt says that his least favorite place in the entire world is McDonalds.
Kurt: (on New Year's resolutions) I have a lot of resolutions. I need a lot of work. The biggest one is not to lose my temper.
Kurt: Sometimes, outsiders think the acting [on soaps] isn't so great. If they knew the circumstances you have to work in, around and under, they'd see that it's very much a crank-it-out type of business. Let's face it, we're shooting five, one-hour episodes in five days! It's like being shot out of a cannon.
