Birth Name:
Kyle MacLachlan
AKA:
Kyle MachLachlan, Kyle McLachlan
Kyle MacLachlan was born on February 22, 1959, in Yakima, Washington, and attended Eisenhower High School in Yakima. In 1982, he was graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts.

Although this talented actor claims to be a descendant of Johann Sebastian Bach on his mother's side, more easily provable is the fact MacLachlan developed his love of drama when reading the Hardy Boys adventures as a child, acting

out all the parts as he went along. After theatre experience, Kyle was discovered for films by director David

More Lynch, who cast the actor as the ingenuous

male leads in Dune (1984) and Blue Velvet (1986), with whom he has remained friends.

In 1990, Kyle won a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of FBI agent Dale Cooper in the Lynch-created TV series Twin Peaks." Reportedly, he turned down the Charlie Sheen role in Oliver Stone's Platoon. He made his directorial debut with an episode of the made-for-cable anthology Tales from the Crypt.

He and Desiree Gruber were married on April 20, 2002, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Miami, Florida.

His most current role is Orson Hodge, in ABC's Desperate Housewives.

    d*mn fine coffee... hide show

How could I love a guy so much on Twin Peaks and hate him so much on Sex in the City. My all time favorite Kyle role on TV has to be Twin Peaks. As an agent sent to find out who really did kill Laura Palmer he enters a strange world with “d*amn fine coffee,” a lady that talks to logs, David Duchovny in a dress and MFAP. His character seemed to be the only sane one in a place that was anything but. Just when we thing all is well there is a plot twist and Kyle is bad, maybe, and the show ends. I wish that there had been more episodes, meaning more Kyle.

Those of you wondering what my favorite movie of his is – it’s his first, Dune.

I think he is one of the best actors around. hide show

He is always surprising me with his portrayals, no matter what genre or medium he is using. He can make me fear for his safety, laugh, cry, get mad at him, and on and on. He truly knows his craft and how best to use it to get the audience to believe in the character and forget he's Kyle.

I used to be his #1 fan, so if I can forget he's Kyle, then he is as good as it gets. I hope his new series lasts as long as he wants it to.
