    L.Q. Jones (who took his name from a character he played in Battle Cry) is one of the most familiar character actors around. Sam Peckinpah used him in five of his movies, starting with Ride the High Country. He has played many different types, although he is best known for his bad guy roles. One role that brought him some notice was that of the ranch hand Andy Belden in The Virginian.
