Lauren Lee Smith

Model-turned-actress Lauren Lee Smith, most known for playing Emma DeLauro on Mutant X, Lara Perkins on The L Word, and Riley Adams on CSI, spent her childhood constantly traveling the globe with her family. Due to the demands of her step-dad's work as a documentary filmmaker, Lauren has lived in parts of Europe and Central America. At age 14, her family settled in Los Angeles, California where she was noticed by a fashion scout and eventually began a career in modeling. But even then, she had her heart set on acting, already performing in theater productions.

Lauren worked as a model throughout her teens until at 19, she landed her film feature debut with a bit part in Get Carter (2000) which starred Sylvester Stallone and Rachael Leigh Cook. In the years that followed, Smith had several guest-starring and recurring roles on television shows such as USA Network's The Dead Zone, FOX's Dark Angel, MTV's 2gether, and the syndicated series Mutant X, where she starred as a Mutant X member who had extraordinary emotional telepathic abilities. She is also famed for playing Christy Huddleston, the young and feisty Cutter Gap schoolteacher, in the made-for-TV movie adaptations of the Catherine Marshall novels.

Her more popular films include Lie With Me (2005), Art School Confidential (2006) with John Malkovich, The Last Kiss (2006) with Scrubs' Zach Braff and The O.C.'s Rachel Bilson, and Pathology with Heroes' Milo Ventimiglia. Between 2004 and 2006, Lauren would play the recurring character of sous-chef Lara Perkins on the Showtime drama The L Word. In 2008, she caught her major television break as she was tapped to portray Level 2 Crime Scene Investigator Riley Adams in the popular CBS crime procedural drama CSI. Smith's character was brought in following the departure of Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) and Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) from the unit.
