, spent her childhood constantly traveling the globe with her family. Due to the demands of her step-dad's work as a documentary filmmaker, Lauren has lived in parts of Europe and Central America. At age 14, her family settled in Los Angeles, California where she was noticed by a fashion scout and eventually began a career in modeling. But even then, she had her heart set on acting, already performing in theater productions.
Lauren worked as a model throughout her teens until at 19, she landed her film feature debut with a bit part in Get Carter
(2000) which starred Sylvester Stallone
and Rachael Leigh Cook
. In the years that followed, Smith had several guest-starring and recurring roles on television shows such as USA Network's The Dead Zone
