Lauren: I like to paint. I make really weird art. I go through trash and find all sorts of weird things; I make all sorts of little weird, really abstract art pieces or whatever you'd want to call them.
-
Lauren: (if she could change something about herself) If I could change... I'm very impatient; I'm a very impatient person. When I want something, I want it to happen right away. I've been that way since I was a little girl. So, I'm trying to practice the art of patience right now. When I get impatient, I get sort of worked up and then I'm like vibrating, and so I try to sort of calm down. I started doing Yoga and just breathing and just being able to relax a little bit. And I think as you get a little bit older too, that really helps.
-
Lauren: I never actually really, I mean if you call…Like when I was, from the time I was 13 I was the same height that I am now, and I was really, really, really, really skinny. And I, I just did a few little things. I wasn't really, you know, a model. I, I don't think anyway. Um, so there wasn't really any, some sort of big transition for me umm…I'd been doing theater form the time I can remember so it's, this is always what I've wanted to do. My family, we traveled so much when I was growing up. We, we were every six months we were in a different country or a different city so it was always sort of hard to be stable and be able to actually pursue something, so, um, I had to wait until I was 18. We were living in the states actually. Illegally. (laughs)
-
Lauren: I couldn't care less if a movie makes a huge profit. I choose my roles based on whether the script terrifies me.
-
Lauren: (if she would have a relationship with a man who's 15-20 years older than her) I think I would. Love is not age-based. It's based on your heart and who you both are as people. If I met someone who connected with me on those levels I can't imagine caring about his age or mine.
-
Lauren: (about her character in "Lie With Me") I'm not at all like Leila. She was completely foreign to me as a character, which is why I wanted to play her so badly -- so I could go on that emotional voyage.
-
Lauren:
(about her character in "Mutant-X") When I read the audition sides for Emma, I thought, 'Cool! She's a sexy girl and an action chick that gets to kick some butt. I like that!'
-
Lauren: People will go see
Quentin Tarantino films, which are incredibly violent, and they have no problem with that. But show a naked body and [they] freak out.
-
Lauren: I'm pretty comfortable in my skin. We all have our flaws. That's what hair and makeup and wardrobe are for, to create this sort of illusion of perfection. But in reality, we all get pimples. We all have fat days. I think you have to embrace that stuff.
-
Lauren: I like to read and paint. And because the area around Vancouver is so beautiful, I hike and snowboard.
-
Lauren: Modeling is a lot of fun and it's great you get to look all these crazy different ways, but it's not really challenging in any way, and it's not something you can really push yourself in and take it to it's limits and keep working on improvements. It's a lot of fun and I'm glad I did it.
-
Lauren: For every major project, I try to change as much as possible. I'm surprised that I actually have hair on my head right now, because it's been every color of the rainbow.
-
Lauren: I think the problem is sex and female sexuality. We're still not used to having control over our own sexual appetite, our own needs. People are uncomfortable talking about sex in general. I mean, more parents are more comfortable showing their kids brutal violence like the stuff in Sin City than they are talking about, or showing sex. I think that's totally wrong.
-
Lauren: (talking about the movie "Lie with Me") Let's face it, at some point in any actor's career, you have to get naked - whether physically, emotionally or mentally. This movie offered me the chance to do all three at once.
-
Lauren: The only place I really get recognized is at Ralphs. Whenever I'm in L.A., I go to Ralphs and for some reason, everyone there recognizes me. They're huge
L Word fans.
