Biography:

Lester Rawlins won OBIE awards as "Regan" in THE QUARE FELLOW, "Tesman" in HEDDA GABLER and "Captain Delano in THE OLD GLORY. He won the DRAMA DESK AWARD for the plays DA & NIGHTRIDE. In 1978 Mr. Rawlins won the coveted TONY award for his supporting role in DA. Lester also supplied "voice-overs" for many commercials with sponsors such as H & R BLOCK, GULF OIL, MIDAS MUFFLERS, TENDER VITTLES, CALGON, TANG and RISE. He was probably best known as the voice for BENSON & HEDGES cigarettes. He also was featured on the radio programs LOOK UP AND LIVE and ETERNAL LIGHT. Mr. Rawlins was hailed as "an actor's actor" and was a popular member of the cast of THE EDGE OF NIGHT when the show won the daytime EMMY award for best daytime drama in 1973.
