Linda McCartney

Linda was a talented horseback rider and won several competitions as a child.

The lyrics to the song, Cook of the House were inspired by a plaque in the kitchen of a house they were staying at, "wherever I serve my guests, they like my kitchen best."

Linda often stated that she never used artificial light when taking photographs.

Linda: The day Otis Redding died I was visiting friends on 57th street in New York. Dusk was falling as I left to catch the bus and I heard the news on a news vendor's radio. I can still see myself taking it in. I can still feel the same feelings.

Linda: We both came from families in which parents got married, had children and the whole thing. So we were not the kind of people to live together permanently.

Linda was a well regarded rock photographer long before she met Paul.

The song Linda, by Jack Lawrence, was written for her.

Linda's eldest child Heather is from her first marriage to Joseph Melvin See. After she married Paul, he legally adopted Heather.

"The Linda McCartney Story" was a television movie dedicated to her life in 2000. Linda was played by Elizabeth Mitchell.

The 200th episode of "The Simpsons" was dedicated to her memory.

She had three children with Paul McCartney: Mary, Stella and James.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 1995, and lost her battle in 1998 at the McCartney Family Ranch in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by her family.

Linda's mother, Louise, died in a plane crash when Linda was 20 years old.

She started her own line of vegetarian TV dinners.

Although her father's name was Eastman, she is not, as commonly rumored, related to Eastman-Kodak family.
