Lindsay: (on her very public 2009 breakup with Samantha Ronson) It's absolute hell. I'm not a bad person, and this is what happens. I was raised to treat people well, and I'm so tired of this drama. They're making me sound like I'm crazy...I'm the girl that wakes up to feed the dog. It's not fair....everyone's turned on me. I'm the victim here. I am so alone.
Lindsay: (refuting claims she had split with partner Samantha Ronson) Oy vey! Rumors. Just to clear this up, because I have been getting a lot of emails asking me this one question. Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan (me) are NOT breaking up.
Lindsay: (on Samantha Ronson) She is a great person. She has a positive impact on the people around her. People can think what they want about us. I'm really happy now, and that's all that matters.
Lindsay: (about going to rehab at age 21) People were a little harsh on me, and it was hard to get through things. No one was being very supportive. But I'm a tough cookie. I got through it myself, and with good friends and family.
Lindsay: (revealing she has given up some friends in a bid to stay sober) There are friends that have been hard to hang out with because they've gone down a different path. But it's really hard because I'm the kind of person who wants to trust everyone.
Lindsay: (about originally wanting to play Regina in "Mean Girls") I really didn't want to be playing the "bad girl." I just......you know what I mean? Like, it would be cool if I could do that eventually, but at this point in my career, I can't just go and play a mean girl and have everyone still think that I'm nice.
Lindsay: I'm the hardest working person I know. I'm 20 years old--is it a crime to want to go out dancing with my friends?
Lindsay: My motto is: Live every day to the fullest - in moderation.
Lindsay: I want to win an Oscar. I want to be known for more than, like, going out. For being the 'party girl'. I hate that. I bust my ass when I'm filming and when I have time off, yeah, I like to go out and dance.
Lindsay: When I was four years old, I didn't say "I want to be written up as going to Bungalow 8 every night and for showing up to set late." But you live and learn!
Lindsay: There's a way of dealing with hardships that are healthier than going out. That's what I've learned.
Lindsay: It's so weird that I went to rehab. I always said that I would die before I went to rehab. But I thought, "I'm going to stay here tonight." And I stayed there for a month. It was great.
Lindsay: It's hard in Los Angeles not to go out, it gets lonely, being an actress is lonely, and I never want to be alone. I'm not like a crazy addict.
Lindsay: I'm 20 years old. I like to party as much as anyone my age. Going clubbing is my way of relaxing or releasing a lot of stress. I don't feel that I should have to justify that part of my life. I don't know that I'm necessarily an addict.
Lindsay: (claiming she parties all night, because she hates going to bed alone) It's so much harder to stay sober in New York. Though it's hard in Los Angeles not to go out, it gets lonely. Being an actress is lonely, and I never want to be alone. I hate sleeping alone.
Lindsay: (in May 2007) I'm at the point where I think 'Oh my God I'm going to go out!' I work hard enough and I know how to take care of myself. I don't know what 's going to happen tomorrow.
Lindsay: (on playing a drug-taking hippy in the film "Hippy") It's about a group of kids taking a cross-country trip when one of them drops acid, goes crazy and starts, like, killing people. I have so much faith in [director] Chris and I just love working with him. I love him so much as a person, that while we were on set on our last project, I said, 'Let's make a deal right now.
Lindsay: My mum says, "Go with your first instinct," but this can lead to impulse buying!
Lindsay: (revealing in March 2007 that she had bought two puppies to help her stay sober) I've bought two puppies. One is a Jack Russell terrier I've named Brooklyn. He's white and black like Chanel. And I've got a Yorkie named Dakota, like my movie name and my little bro. Sober impulse buying of companions will help me stay home.
Lindsay: (about similarities between her and her Mean Girls character, Cady) I wouldn't let myself be thrown into a table of girls I didn't know and have them be just back and forth talking. I'd be like, 'Whoa, I can't understand a word you're saying. Can you start over?' I wouldn't feel comfortable with them, like, whispering in front of me, like that makes me feel kind of insecure. But I can connect with her in the sense that I've been to a new school before and not really knowing anyone.
Lindsay: (on her brother, Cody) My brother Cody is 19. He wants to stay out of the limelight and become a lawyer. I want him to be an entertainment lawyer, so he can help me out!
Lindsay: (expressing worry about her 13-year-old sister, Aliana) My little sister Aliana's opinions are the most important to me. She says, 'I want to look like you, you're so pretty!' But she is very beautiful and so she is trouble in the making! She wants to do what I do. I'm like her second mother and I am very protective of her.
Lindsay: I want to get married before I'm 30. And I'd like to win an Oscar before then.
Brandon Davis: (on Lindsay) She's worth about $7 million, which means she's really poor. It's disgusting. She lives in a motel.
Lindsay: I don't think I've had enough experience with dating one guy for a long time. The only one was Jared [Leto], and Wilmer Valderrama.
Lindsay: Jared [Leto] was so paranoid. He'd always be like, 'Don't come over if you're going to bring 15 paparazzi!'
Lindsay: I'm an angel compared to some of my friends.
Lindsay: (after having pole-dancing lessons for "I Know Who Killed Me") Three hours of pole-dancing and bruised everywhere. I mean we're talking upper and inner thigh action-bruised - like a walking black-and-blue mark. I mean really though, really, I didn't know it was actually possible to have bruises in such areas of the body. Strippers dude, I tell you, I really respect the ****s now. I'm not gonna lie to you.
Lindsay: (December 2006) I haven't had a drink in seven days. Or anything. I'm not even legal to, so why would I? I don't drink when I go to clubs. I drink with my friends at home, but there's no need to. I feel better not drinking. It's more fun. I have Red Bull.
Lindsay: My mom is going to kill me for talking about sleeping with people. But I don't want to put myself in the position where I'm in a monogamous relationship right now. I'm not dating just one person. Sex and the City changed everything for me because those girls would sleep with so many people.
Lindsay: I don't know if I am cut out to playing a bad character or not - I really should give it a shot. I would like to play the voice of a baddie, but that's really just a cop-out!
Lindsay: Life is full of risks anyway, why not take them?
Lindsay: I'll probably pursue doing more movies, but not horror or movies with killers in them. I'll try to stick to happy movies. I want to act and direct like Jodie Foster. I admire her because she went to college and she's still doing the same thing.
Lindsay: I write a lot of lyrics and I'm involved in the producing process, because it's like, if I'm singing it, I want it to be something that I can relate to.
Lindsay: How can you not like Britney Spears?
Lindsay: I am happy being able to play roles with people my age because once you do something really mature there is no turning back.
Lindsay: Marriage is a big deal, but who's to say I'm not going to pull a Vegas and get married to see what it's like for a minute?
Lindsay: So many people preach that they love fashion, but really it's what I live for!
Lindsay: (following her break-up with Wilmer Valderrama, where she dropped over 25 pounds, and put on an IV) I was going through a lot of stuff and not thinking about my body... I nearly died!
Lindsay: I love my red hair. It makes me spunkier.
Lindsay: (after becoming a brunette) I feel a bit classier with this hair.
Lindsay: (on going to college) I would go to NYU. I'm a New York girl, and it's easy to get to London and L.A. from here.
Lindsay: (admitting she is stubborn) When someone tells me not to do something, I'll do it more.
Lindsay: I'm not skinny for the wrong reasons. It's not because I'm bulimic or anorexic or doing drugs. Compared to a lot of actresses my age, I'm actually overweight.
Lindsay: If I had dated as many men as they say I have, then I'd be dead by now!
Lindsay: (on acting role models) I did get to work with Anthony Hopkins on The Human Stain. If I ever manage to accomplish a quarter of what he's achieved, I'll have had one hell of a career.
Lindsay: (on filming Chapter 27, based around John Lennon's assassination) I sat down with Yoko Ono a few times to talk to her about it because it's a very touchy subject. Nobody wanted me to do the movie, and that actually worked for me! But I wanted to get the okay from Yoko before I did it just because John Lennon is a legend. And I also know Sean, her son. We've been friends for years and we write together.
Lindsay: (on her relationship with her mother) She's my best friend and always will be. So are my brother and sisters, but there's nothing like your mum. We've always been there for each other and I trust her with my life.
Lindsay: (asked if she thinks fame shelters her from real life) It depends on who you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with people who treat you as they would if you didn't have your pictures everywhere - and I do - then no. I have a great group of people, and I consider myself a pretty humble person. What is fame?
Lindsay: (on her relationship with Meryl Streep) It was more of a friend relationship than maternal. Meryl was getting ready to do The Devil Wears Prada and she was like, 'I don't know anything about fashion!' So I gave her a few tips.
Lindsay: (why she chose to star in A Prairie Home Companion) When they asked me to be Meryl Streep's daughter in a movie, why would I say no? Also, I got to sing live, which I love to do. It's a movie I know I'll be proud of when I look back on it.
Lindsay: Never say never. The things you don't plan are the best. I'm a very spontaneous person.
Lindsay: I want to be remembered for the work that I've done, rather than the car accidents that I've gotten into, the men that I've not dated - or the man that I have.
Lindsay: You shouldn't have to give things up for someone. If you love them someone, you should love them for everything they do and all that they are. I love acting and I wouldn't give it up for anything, and I don't know anyone in my life who would ask me to give it up.
Lindsay: (on shooting "Just My Luck") I felt uncomfortable running around New York City having to kiss strange men who are much older than me. There were little girls watching everywhere and paparazzi were waiting around every corner to snap my picture. I felt nervous and silly.
Lindsay: Everyone has highs and lows that they have to learn from, but every morning I start off with a good head on my shoulders, saying to myself, 'It's going to be a good day!'
Lindsay: I'm really excited because I'm planning a trip to Kenya with The One Foundation. Bono introduced me to it. I'm also trying to get other people on board. I only just told Kate Bosworth about it last night. I want to set up orphanages for underprivileged and abused children.
Lindsay: It's my body. And I like my body. And I like my breasts. And no, they're not fake. I think a woman's body is so much more sensual than a man's. I'm not saying strip off all your clothes, but there are certain photos I like people taking of me, where I'm comfortable. As long as it's tasteful, why not?
