Loretta Lynn is one of the most well known country music artists in the world. She was a coal miners daughter who spend her time singing in variety shows and churches as a youth. She married at the young age of 13, in 1948, to Oliver Lynn, and preceeded to have 4 children. After many years of raising her children, she started performing her own songs at local bars and after 10 years she got her first record deal with Zero Records. Her first single was released in 1960, called "I'm a Honky Tonk Girl." The family promoted the single themselves by visiting the DJs at the radio station toMore ask them to play it. "I'm a Honky Tonk Girl" made it all the way to number 14 on the music charts. Soon the Wilburn Brothers took interest in Loretta and hired her to go on tour with them in 1960. In the late 1960's she moved her family to Nashville, Tennessee and signed a deal with Decca Records. She released her first single with them called "Success" which went immediately to number six on the billboard charts. She began writing songs from a feminist's viewpoint like "The Pill" which is a song about birth control. Loretta Lynn has performed with people such as Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette.
She released her last CD in 2004 called "van Lear Rose"

A Coal Miner's Daughter.....The Lady, The Legend......... hide show

Oh my gosh...what can I say about Loretta that hasn't already been said? She is a down to earth person who has given so much to people, but she says we have given more to her than she has given to us. She will tell you she is not a star. She says that is something in the sky. But we know she is a powerhouse in the music industry. She was the first country music female millionaire, she was the first female CMA Entertainer of the Year and the first female Artist of the Decade...I could go on with more but we dont have the space provided here :) I have been a fan and friend of Loretta's since 1972 and have been blessed to get to know her and her wonderful family. Loretta will tell you herself, when you are a fan, you are a friend!
